Welcome to LCS! Orientation for PreK will be held on Thursday, September 3 at 5:30. There will be an all school orientation at 6:30. The orientation is really meant for parents, but if you need to take children along you may, it will just be a little boring for them.
First day of school for PreK is Wednesday, September 9.
There will be a combination ice cream social and open house held at school on September 29 from 5-7 P.M.
School pictures will be taken on Monday, September 15.
This month, the PreK class will be adjusting to school life, making new friends, reviewing colors and numbers and beginning an introduction to the alphabet.
I am excited about the new year! Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Modern World History: 9th grade
We will be looking at the following world history themes as we study history this year: power and authority, religious and ethical systems, revolution, interaction with environment, economics, cultural interaction, empire building, and science and technology. We will also be covering the following geography themes: location, human/environment interaction, region, place, movement.
We begin our journey by taking a look at the rise of democratic ideas. We will be learning about how different countries/rulers, religions, and philosophers influenced the development of democracy in different countries.
There will be a weekly current events presentation that is due on Thursday. Students are expected to find a topic (economic, political, local, world, etc.) from a news source (newspaper, internet, etc.) and give a small oral report on it, as well as a paragraph summarizing their article.
If you have any questions about assignments, please feel free to email me at the school.
